Hypnosis and Music
Hypnosis and Music
As a certified music therapist and accredited trainer, my journey has been enriched by prestigious collaborations at the enlightened request of Professor Marie-Elisabeth Faymonville, an eminent figure in medical hypnosis, always eager to explore new avenues such as music therapy. This led to my appointment as an official collaborator of the Faculty of Medicine and the Interdisciplinary Algology Center of the University Hospital of Liège, where my expertise was warmly welcomed.
Subsequently, thanks to the kind recommendation of Professor Audrey Vanhaudenhuyse, I had the privilege to join the Sensation & Perception Research Group within the GIGA Consciousness at the University of Liège. This opportunity allowed me to shed light on the crucial role of music in maintaining and improving human health, thus opening up exciting new research perspectives in this ever-evolving field.
On this page, delve into the captivating world of Professor Faymonville’s hypnosis CDs. These seven fascinating works are meticulously enhanced with enriching introductions and conclusions, accompanied by carefully selected musical excerpts for each circumstance. Let yourself be carried away by the enchanting voices of Marie-Elisabeth Faymonville, Nicole Malaise, and Audrey Vanhaudenhuyse, who bring these hypnosis sessions to life with unmatched mastery and intensity.
Professor Marie-Elisabeth Faymonville
Professor Marie-Elisabeth Faymonville is an anesthesiologist and has served as the head of the Interdisciplinary Algology and Palliative Care Center at the University Hospital of Liège in Belgium.
She has developed hypnosedation, a new anesthesia technique combining hypnosis, conscious intravenous sedation, and local anesthesia. Over 10,500 patients have been operated on using this technique. She also works with patients suffering from chronic pain and oncological patients.
Currently, she teaches patients self-hypnosis and self-compassion so that they can break free from the cycle of emotional distress and develop their inner resources.
Medical hypnosis is a safe and effective complementary technique in the treatment of chronic pain syndromes. Learning self-hypnosis/self-compassion not only improves pain but also psychological factors such as depression, fatigue, anxiety, pain disability, and enhances the patient’s overall impression of treatment effectiveness.
Ms. Nicole Malaise
Nicole Malaise is a psychologist and psychotherapist. She is highly renowned in the field of international hypnotherapy.
As a member of the Interdisciplinary Algology Center at the University Hospital of Liège, she conducts individual consultations as well as group hypnosis sessions.
As a collaborator of the Sensation & Perception Research Group at Giga Liège, she is an experienced speaker and a regular member of several hypnosis associations, participating in numerous conferences in the fields of hypnosis and Algology.
Professor Audrey Vanhaudenhuyse
Audrey Vanhaudenhuyse is a neuropsychologist, Associate Professor, and holds a PhD in Medical Sciences. Her research interests lie in altered states of consciousness (hypnosis, virtual reality/hypnosis, trances derived from traditional practices).
As a researcher at the Interdisciplinary Algology Center of the University Hospital of Liège, she also heads the Sensation & Perception Research Group, a research unit of the GIGA Consciousness at the University of Liège.
Her objectives are to develop research paradigms to evaluate the contribution of tools involving techniques such as hypnosis, virtual reality, and self-induced cognitive trance for the overall well-being of patients (chronic pain, oncology, intensive care, etc.), and to study their neural correlates to better understand the underlying processes of these particular states
From CD to mp3
Given that the CD format is practically obsolete, we have digitized these hypnosis recordings and converted them to the MP3 format. These files, intended exclusively for patients, are available at the reception desk of the Interdisciplinary Algology Center.
